Just in time for the NBA Finals I have painted this piece of LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeBron, only 22 years old and in his fourth NBA season, came to the NBA four years ago straight out of high school with more hype than probably any player who came before him.
He's lived up to the hype and now, entering the NBA Finals in only his fourth year, has exceeded expectations.

Last week LeBron put on an incredible show in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals which cemented the idea for me to do this piece.
He scored 29 of his team's final 30 points including 25 straight and led the Cavaliers to a double-overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons. The game became an instant classic.
The idea of the throne and the cape is nothing new to LeBron. He's been portrayed as King James numerous times on posters and magazine covers but I felt it was time for me to try my hand at it. I love lions, so I had to include one, and I thought it would be interesting to see statues of LeBron carved into marble columns behind his thrown.
I used a painting of Napoleon by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres as a starting point for the type of pose I wanted LeBron to have and the type of imperial feel I wanted the painting to evoke. I also fitted LeBron with a pair of Zoom Lebron IV's with a gold colorway.
This piece is available in the shop as a
